2009 Student Scholarship Available: Deadline is March 13

If you have a child who is a senior in high school and is planning on attending a 2 or 4 year college, community college, university, or trade school beginning in the fall of 2009, they may apply for a $2,500 scholarship. The scholarship is offered through the Southern Twin Cities REALTORS® Charitable Foundation. This scholarship is available to seniors who reside in Dakota, Goodhue, Scott, or Rice County. Please have your child check with their Guidance Counselor for the scholarship application or click here for a copy of the application.  The completed application with all required enclosures must be submitted by March 13, 2009.  If you have any questions regarding this scholarship, please contact Ron Covert at 651-452- 6611.

 
Tony Maurer Installed as STCAR's 2009 Board of Directors President
New Officers and Directors also Installed

Tony Maurer of Tradition Realty in Edina was installed as the 2009 President of the Southern Twin Cities Association of REALTORS® at the annual Installation and Holiday Banquet this month at Mendakota Country Club in Mendota Heights.

Maurer has been a member of the Association since 1999. He's the broker with Tradition Realty. He has served on the Strategic Planning, Executive, Charitable Foundation, Professionalism and Public Policy Committees. Maurer has served as a Director since 2005 and as the Secretary, Treasurer and President-Elect. He was also a Director with the Minnesota Association of REALTORS®.

The following REALTORS® were also installed to the following positions on the Southern Twin Cities Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors:

· Director Rosie Martin, Coldwell Banker Burnet
· Director Tim Stiebner, RE/MAX Realty 100

Wayne Gilbert Receives 2008 William Tschohl
Distinguished Service Award

 

Wayne Gilbert of Coldwell Banker Burnet in Apple Valley, was honored as the 2008 William Tschohl Distinguished Service Award winner by the Southern Twin Cities Association of REALTORS® at the annual Installation and Holiday Banquet last Wednesday.

Gilbert has been a member of the Southern Twin Cities Association of REALTORS® for over nine years. During this time, he has served on and chaired numerous committees and has held each leadership position, serving as President in 2007.

Gilbert also believes that if you are in the real estate profession, you should also be active in the political arena.  He has chaired the Minnesota Association of REALTORS® Governmental Affairs Committee and has been a Trustee for the Minnesota REALTORS® Political Action Committee since 2007. Gilbert also serves as the National Association of REALTORS® Federal Political Coordinator for Representative John Kline.

 
Eric Malmberg Awarded STCAR 2008 REALTOR® of the Year

REALTOR® Eric Malmberg of RE/MAX Advantage Plus in Savage was named the 2008 REALTOR® of the Year by the Southern Twin Cities Association of REALTORS®. As the broker of RE/MAX Advantage Plus, Malmberg continually receives awards and recognition for his commitment, guidance and representation in helping to improve the image of the real estate industry. He gives of himself for the improvement of others and as such, demonstrates the kind of leadership that makes the association, the real estate industry and the world a better place.  

His community involvement includes the local YMCA, Gillette Children's Hospital Miracle Maker, local youth sports programs, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, where he was the lead sponsor in a funding raising effort by donating and planting several thousand evergreen trees. He has sponsored and participated in local programs to recognize the achievements of young women.

Malmberg embodies the dedication, professionalism and ethics emblematic of today's REALTOR®, and is most deserving of being named the 2008 STCAR REALTOR® of the Year.
